Summer 2019 STEM Teaching Internship

Overview. The (ES)2 STEM Learning Lab sponsors CTI Inspire, a National Science Foundation-supported program aimed at recruiting, retaining and supporting high-achieving underrepresented minority students to pursue STEM teaching careers. As part of this effort, CTI Inspire offers paid summer STEM teaching internships to freshmen and sophomores that provide opportunities for students to consider STEM teaching careers.
Requirements. CTI Inspire Summer Interns (a) are selected after a competitive application process that includes an essay and an interview, (b) complete a 3 credit course in conjunction with the summer internship experience, (c) participate in 8 hours worth of professional development activities during the academic year preceding the internship, and (d) intern for 80 hours during the months of May and June with an experienced teacher.
Benefits. CTI Inspire Summer Interns (a) earn valuable professional experience, (b) receive a scholarship that pays tuition and fees for the 3 credit course, (c) network and build working relationships with STEM and STEM education professionals, university faculty, and K-12 teachers and administrators, (d) earn an $1,100 stipend, and (e) are eligible for $33,000 in scholarship support during their junior and senior year should they decide to pursue a STEM teaching career.
